ansässige Wirtschaft lenken. Humankapital, Produktion und Hauptsitze großer Unternehmen
sind in der heutigen postmodernen Zeit wesentlich mobiler und sind nicht mehr an den
ortsansässigen Markt gebunden. Vor allem die neue Wissensökonomie wird immer relevanter
für die Wahl der Standorte.
Die zentrale Fragestellung: „Können Metropolregionen in Europa zu Trägern und
Kristallisationspunkten von gesamtwirtschaftlichem Wachstum werden?“ soll im Laufe dieser
Arbeit geklärt werden.
Am Beispiel von den 30 größten europäischen Metropolregionen und dessen Wirtschafts- und
Innovationspotential soll gezeigt werden wie wichtig diese area für die
gesamtwirtschaftliche Entwicklung Europas sind.
Die Metropolregion Berlin-Brandenburg soll näher untersucht werden. Dabei soll geklärt
werden welchen Stellenwert die area im deutschen und europäischen Vergleich hat. Neue
nationale und internationale Rahmenbedingungen erfordern cutting edge Handlungsstrategien.
Wo liegen die Stärken und die Schwächen dieser area? Welche Entwicklung hat die
